Hi Ingo,

I do not think there are large differences between the normal and Platinum eX versions of the Audigy2. Here's my /proc/asound/Audigy2/emu10k1 output, which I think is very similar to yours:

Hi Lionel,

Well normally, i use xine as my favourity player, but also here, i dont`t hear
anything. Maybe it is just is simple error, but i started even from scratch,
removing my local xine-Configuration. i may switch on digital passthrough, but
my amp does not get any signal. Yes, it works under M$, yes, it worked with my
old Sblive5.1!

I don`t have a Platinum eX, but an orginary Audigy 2 , but i doubt, that there
are large differences..

Could you show me the output of your /proc/asound/Audigy2/emu10k1? Maybe i find
some differences..

Thanks for your help,

Ingo

Hi Ingo,

I am using the Audigy2 Platinum eX and I managed to get ac3 passthrough
using Xine and alsa. My connection to an external decoder is done via
the mini-jack digital output on the breakout box of the soundcard, not
via the RCA SPDIF output jack. Dolby Digital works perfectly, however
DTS passthrough seems a little buggy. The decoder detects DTS signals,
however the sound output is distorted. I have not managed to get ac3
passthrough using MPlayer at the moment. The passthrough should work
without any fiddling of alsamixer. I do not have my configuration files
at the moment as I am currently at work. I suggest that you try using
Xine to see if ac3 passthrough works on your Audigy2, and I have no
reason to doubt that it should not if alsa loads without any problems.

Hi list,

i just wanted to ask whether there is any progress in the Audigy2 and
ac3-passthrough issue.

After screening alsa-user, alsa-devel and also mplayer-uers i am not
much happier. I read about a few people, that use toe optical optput on
their live-drive, but i only have the "Digital / Analog Output Jack"

Would anyone, who managed to use this with his external decoder, be so
kind to describe his configuration. Or are we just casing a ghost?

cat /proc/asound/ says something about spdif, but when i send anything
other than pure pcm to the device, i get no output from my amp.

Any help would be kindly accepted
