Probably your machine is listed in the quirk table in snd-intel8x0. Please show the part of the "lspci -v" output for the audio controller
(the subsystem ID is important).

},Also you can try the attached patch to alsa-drivers. Apply with
"patch -p1", recompile and load snd-intel8x0 with ac97_quirk=0 (this
will override the quirk table in the driver).

Apparently the blacklist entry is wrong. Maybe there are _some_ boards with the same subsystem ID where AC97_TUNE_HP_ONLY is needed (this would be bad, because then the driver cannot recognize them automatically, as it tries to do now).
This I cannot comment on, since I don,t understand how the "blacklist"-mechanism works... anyone with five minutes at his hands care to comment? Please? :)
Finally, I,ll head off now to bugtrack.alsa-project.org and get me an account... :)
