Hej .. thanks for the input ! it didnt do the thing i wanted but i found out some stuff: the site http://www.djcj.org/LAU/guide/audio_quality_HOWTO.htm#supported_digi tels me the soundblaster live is an "Problematic Digital Card" so i guessed that was out of the question and i tried an setup with the 2 jack connectors which gives me sound on al the speakers except the center .. and after poking around a bit i found out that the LED "Digital din" was still on because i use to have the driver from www.sourceforge.net/projects/emu10k1/ for the 2.4 kernel and the cable was stil plugged in. that opened my eyes a bit now that i knew about the "SB Live Analog/Digital Output Jack" switch (thanks for that peter) so i tried the digital setup again and that gave me sound on 2 speakers and the center (and the LFE) and digital works! now my question is : is it possible to set up ALSA with the soundblaster live as an 5.1 system trough the digital din ? and are there any docs about that .. google gave me notting realy worth it thanks so far Vincent van Os -- "Computers are like air conditioners - They can't do their job properly if you open windows." ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by: IBM Linux Tutorials Free Linux tutorial presented by Daniel Robbins, President and CEO of GenToo technologies.
