I can not get any Sound Notifications from KDE, assuming I need to point KDE to an external player (aplay), this can be because I can't locate aplay.
I had the same problem in the beginning, but solved it pointing KDE to the external player artsplay. You should have it already installed.
Replying to Bill Unruh: a sound notification is a sound played on an event, such as KDE initialization, KDE shutdown, critical error, new email, etc.
