Ever since I upgraded to kernel 2.6.5 alsa fails to work on my laptop,
Alsa worked pretty much flawlessly with 2.4.x.
When I upgraded to 2.6 (.3) I noticed that I can only change the master volume, changing the PCM wouldn't do anything which was pretty annoying but I managed..
Same problem occurred with 2.6.4.
Yesterday I finally had the time to build 2.6.5 (I saw many alsa stuff on the changelog and hoped it might rectify the previous issue). Alas - the sound has stopped working completely.
No matter what I do (cleaning /etc/modules.conf and running alsaconf again (voodoo, I know ;), manually loading modules, making sure that all slides on the alsamixer at at maximum, building alsa-driver 1.0.4 (and not using the kernel's snapshot)) - nada, the sound is not working, mplayer (tried a few "simpler" apps as well) is opening the alsa device but no sound comes out.
OSS module is working fine.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Thanks.
