Hi!

I have the following Problem:

When i open a console and start mpg123 some.mp3 it starts playing back
on my first soundcard. (onboard AC97 Compliant Realtek ALC655 Chip
(intel8x0 driver))

When I issue the same command in another terminal it seemes to hang.
But when of whatever case playback in the fist console window stops
(e.g. I press ctrl-c, the file is over, etc.) it starts playing in the
second terminal window.

I have used XMMS with Alsa and OSS Plugins (using Alsa-Alsa, OSS-OSS,
OSS-Alsa) and experienced the same everytime.

When I playback one MP3 on Soundcard-0 a second one on Soundcard-1 and a
third one on Soundcard-3 everything works fine.

The issue which i' have here doesn't depend on the soundcard (so I think
it's not a problem with the driver)

First I thought it may be the Mainboard. But today I replaced it with a
brand new one (different manufacturer, chipset,...) which also doesn't
bring a solution.

It starts getting annoying when after each song in XMMS playpack is
interupped by numerous "OhOh" and "Ping" sounds generated from gaim
(instant-Messenger) running while listening to an MP3 instead of playing
the event sounds when they occur.

Conclusingly I would like to ask you if you have an Idea on how to solve
this prolem.

Many thx in Advance!

cu
