Probably not - softvol can only attenuate, it cannot amplify signals. If you have the volume at 100% it should be as loud as the hardware ios capable of. Maybe there is a software volume control or compressor in MythTV that can do this? I know mplayer has one. What sound card? Can you attach the output of amixer?
