For starters, if you are willing, I would run the alsa-info.sh for both:

CEntOS and Ubuntu

then do a diff on the two. See what is interesting about the diff.
Perhaps see how the kernel modules (from centos and ubuntu) compare to a
"vanilla" module from kernel.org.
