That is interesting, and does sound similar. I didn't really notice the
problem in idle mode, but I did in pad mode. I never did fly because it
would have gone out of site (5000+ ft) and I didn't want to risk loosing it.

A couple things that I don't think are the problem. 1. I don't think I
had a low battery as I had just charged it and it indicates good charge.
2. I don't think it is a firmware issue in that I had not upgraded since
I last flew it a couple months ago with no problem.

I would not discount a possible antenna problem, ether on the altimeter
or the ground station. I did not visually see a problem, but that is one
of the things I plan to test more completely.
