Yes. All TeleMetrum v1 boards use the cc1111 processor on which we don't support self-programming. You have to use one of our devices like a TeleDongle as the programmer in a pair-programming mode using the cable mentioned to connect the 8-pin "companion" port on the programmer with the 4-pin "debug" port on the target to be updated. The TeleMini v1 board is also a pair-programming-required device. There are 4 small holes in a row on the edge of the board that form the debug connector. I never actually put a debugging cable for that connector into the web store because they're kind of a pain to make. I've actually used 4 individual solid conductor wires (like from old-style telephone cable) stuck into those holes and into the female companion connector on another board to re-flash TeleMini boards in a pinch. Keith or I would also completely happy to do this for you if you want for no charge other than return shipping. As to the advantages, for a TeleMini board I don't think they're terribly significant. There have been a number of bug fixes since 1.0.3, and Keith can chime in if I'm forgetting something important that might matter to you, but if everything is working fine I don't think you need to go nuts trying to update the TeleMini.
