Also, leaving the battery out in a hot, sunny environment can cause swelling.  
I had that happen with a 7.4V lipo I was testing with another tracker in a hot 
car.Battery swelled up due to the heat.  It wasn't over-discharged.  Voltages 
seem fine but I only relegate it to testing.  One of these days I'll stick it 
on a cycler and measure it butI have several other packs I can use so am not 
too rushed about it.
You might want to keep that in mind if putting a pack in a black nosecone for 
extended periods of time out in the desert.
