Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. What gauge of wire would you
recommend? I'm pretty ignorant about these types of things to be honest.

I wasn't planning on using a connector either, but I will have to remove
the remaining bit of wire before putting the replacement on. I just wanted
to ensure the whip antenna was nothing but a single wire soldered directly
to the board and that I used a relatively "fit for purpose" wire for my
antenna. hence my question about gauge. Any other specific wire
recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
