Afraid the latter -- we don't lack for projects around here and that's
just not something we're looking at doing much with.

There's a Java API for storing configuration stuff; the values are
persisted in some file; I don't even recall which one :-)

There are instructions for recovering from busted firmware in the
manual, but if you're going to be hacking the code, having a programmer
is really helpful as that supports symbolic debugging and
everything. They're not super expensive:

We've even got some adapter boards that provide a clean connection to
TeleMetrum using a short piece of ribbon cable and a couple of Micro
MaTch connectors.
