I was doing some tests with amanda 2.4.1p1 and samba 2.06 the other day and
noticed a strange error.

Following the backup I renamed some of the NT files which had been backed up
and then recovered these files using amrecover. I got the files back without
any difficulty but our external auditor pointed out that the timestamps were
exactly one hour behind the original, renamed, files!

As it happens, the Solaris amanda server/samba client is running GMT time, but
the NT workstations operate with daylight saving, which currently puts them an
hour ahead.

If the timestamps are being re-interpreted by the Solaris machine when they
are written to tape why aren't they converted back when the files are
recovered back onto the NT workstation? Or is there some other explanation?

All ideas gratefully received!
