I've successfully run Amanda on many different platforms and thought I had the above platform working fine. Its been doing backups for almost a year. Needed to restore some files only to find that somehow the files are corrupt. For example a 46MB file restores as a 36MB file. No indication of problems or errors during the backup or restore. Tried both compressed and uncompressed backups (using gzip and tar 1.12 patched) Doing a tar directly to tape, an HP DAT DSS1 drive, and then restoring the files is fine. This is a single machine backing up to its own tape drive. I realize there's not alot to go on here but can anyone point me in the right direction on how to isolate this issue?
