Did you look for /etc/etc/dumpdates?  Again, your working directory is
not the top level of the file system, so things are going to come back
lower in the tree than you think.

I would strongly recommend against testing your restores with dumpdates.
That's a "database" file needed by the dump program to control incremental
levels.
