Friends,

I want to backup my cobalt webservers through an ipchains based
firewall.

I got the new 2.4.2 beta downloaded and installed it as client with the
following configure options:

--prefix=/home/backup_software --without-server --with-user=XXX
--with-group=XXX --with-gnutar-listdir=$prefix/var/amanda/gnutar-lists
--with-portrange=902,905 --with-udpportrange=902,905

The XXX is just for safety reasons and the portrange (AFAIK this ports
are not in use) will change also after getting this thing working.
So please dont be annoyed of this paranoic! ;-)

The version running on the serverhost is 2.4.1p1

After installing I kicked every necessary demon with kill -HUP [pid]
The firewall is open on these ports as well as on the other three ports
needed.

Yes I did RTFMs and also read the FAQ-O-MATIC Amanda behind a firewall
and subscribed the amanda-users and read the archivs.

Still the same error message occurs

[XXX@XXX]$ amcheck samba
Amanda Tape Server Host Check
-----------------------------
/backup/samba: 4013846 KB disk space available, that's plenty.
NOTE: skipping tape-writable test.
Tape SambaSetA12 label ok.
Server check took 3.322 seconds.

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
ERROR: cobalt01: [host kerberos.oxalis.de: port 63466 not secure]
Client check: 4 hosts checked in 5.119 seconds, 1 problem found.

(brought to you by Amanda 2.4.1p1)

So what am I doing wrong?
Do I also have to install 2.4.2 on the serverhost?

If someone of you would spread his wisdom on my poor little knowledge I
would be delighted!

Truly!

Thanx in advance
Ralf
