I've decided to go with the L9
http://www.sun.com/storage/L9
Amanda shouldn't have any problems with this changer (I hope!). I will
defiantly check out the changer software you suggested if I have any
problems.
In a few months once the L20 has been out a bit I see if I can grab one from
the Sun loaner pool to test it with Amanda. I'm sure more people will be
asking if it works.
Thanks guys for your help, I'll let you know how it turns out.

Subject: Re: Sun's L20 hardware.
There is a commerical version of a changer software that I use for Solaris
platform from HIARC. They have a product called jukebox driver. That will
work on almost any changer. It worked well for me because chg-scsi doesn't
work for me. I'm using Dell Powervault 120 changer (from ADIC vendor)
running on a Solaris Intel box. But the downside to using the commerical
driver is that it costs us $479. You can download it and test it with one
week demo license key. That is what I did. If you plan on using it, let
me know and I'll send you a changer script for use with amanda to interact
with HIARC jb driver.
HIARC have a website at http://www.hiarc.com. According to their website,
the following known jukebox devices that the driver works on:
* ADIC
* ATL
* Breece Hill Technologies
* Exabyte
* IBM
* M4 Data
* Overland Data
* Plasmon
* QualStar
* Spectra Logics
* Storage Tek
* StraightLine
* Sun
* Tandberg Data
And the following optical jukeboxes:
* DISC
* Fujitsu
* HP
* IBM
* Maxoptix
* Plasmon
* Sony
Like what Gary said, if you already got the jukebox, test it out with
chg-scsi and if it does not work then try stctl, which is another free
product that the U of MN use for their amanda backup on a Sun Jukebox (I
can't remember the model number but its from Sun) on a Sun Enterprise
E450. stctl can be found at http://www.cs.pdx.edu/~eric/stctl/. So if
neither works, then try mtx or chio. If not, then you can use hiarc's jb
driver as a last resort like I did for my Dell Powervault 120. Since it's
a commerical product, it is more likely that it will be supported.
Good luck,
Josh
