What I meant, but did not state clearly, was that it seems like a
lot of Linux Amanda users recently are having trouble with this RPM or
version of Linux or whatever and it seems odd that whoever built the RPM
(and that's where my comment was aimed, not at Linux users in general)
didn't set it up to install the xinetd entry.
If that's part of a sub package (amanda-client?), that's fine, and if
it's well described in whatever installation instructions come with an
RPM (which I wouldn't know anything about), that's also fine, but why
are so many people suddenly having trouble?
That's really a rhetorical question. We now have an answer to this setup
(install the amanda-client RPM, whatever that means), and that's all I
was really interested in.
