No. Otherwise, the tape you just verified would give you some error
("not at start of tape", 0+0 records in,  etc.) when amverify would
reach its end and there would still be further data to read.

My experience is that it is mostly some hardware error that prevented
AMANDA from finishing. My experience is also that it is not much worth
chewing the cud of the logs in such a case (unless you want to debug
AMANDA). It just happens from time to time that AMANDA finishes without
a report. Of course, there is a cause for every effect (tell this to a
physicist). And we are talking about deterministic automata (don't
we?...). But if it doesn't happen very often, why bother? Run amcleanup,
then amflush, run AMANDA next time - and be happy :-) 

PS. Get a 9th and a 10th tape for these rare, but exciting Murphy cases
;-) And let the real backup on tape take place in the middle of the
week, when you can at least check it the _next_ day, not after 2 days,
on Monday...
