I honestly don't know.  I don't actually use the above line, which is why I 
said "I think you can" :)

I would expect that if there were nothing wrong with the amdump process it 
should exit with 0, but if something went wrong it would exit with non-0
status.  What I expect and what reality is may be 2 completely different 
things for reasons I'm not aware of :)
