I'm brave enough to try to save myself $30-60K by using amanda[0] instead of
one of the other solutions out there. :)
Do you have any time frame for "soon"? I may not have all my hardware
here until the end of January.
(Besides, we're going to start out with enough extra capacity that I
should be able to do lots of testing and playing.)

[0] I don't consider amanda much of a risk-- I implemented it at a prior
job, and was pleased with the results. Worst case scenario involves
having smaller filesystems until amanda can support larger ones.
