>Ok, I guess I'll start learning about changer scripts. :)
When I wrote mine (when I was just learning Amanda), I groped through
docs/TAPE.CHANGERS and some of the changer scripts.
Keep in mind that, in general, changer scripts are just glue between a
set of commands Amanda issues (defined in docs/TAPE.CHANGERS, although
I'll bet it's somewhat out of date -- see amtape(8) for a better list)
and some other external program that actually does the physical work.
For instance, mtx, chio, or in my case, another program I already had
working with my robot called tpmount.
The exception to this (which does not apply to you) is chg-scsi, which
is glue between Amanda and the (so called :-) standard SCSI changer
command set, i.e. directly to hardware.
If you want yet another changer example:

That's not bravery, just good sense :-).
>Do you have any time frame for "soon"? ...
I'm hoping a (very) few weeks. I have what are called end of semester
backups looming where I need to do a full dump of everything on the floor,
and some of it no longer fits.
