Amanda just asks for the next tape in the tapelist. Other tapes will
work just as well as long as they don't contain "essential" data
required for a restore.
If tape 10 contained backups necessary for a restore Amanda wouldn't
have overwritten it.
At least this is how I understand the mechanism.
