It looks like it.  I found two v9 systems, one with SUNWspro 4.2 and
one with 5.0.  The 4.2 system whined about -xarch=v9 but the 5.0 system
was happy.

Here's what the happy one says:

  $ cc -V
  cc: WorkShop Compilers 5.0 98/12/15 C 5.0

Sorry.  That's probably not the answer you'd like to hear.

My boss has banged into this more than me.  I'll let you know if he has
any bright ideas.
