Greetings All,

I am having some weird krb4 issues when attempting to migrate my
AMANDA server from a BSDI 3.1 box to a BSDI 4.1 box.

The details:

My current AMANDA server is running on BSDI 3.1/Amanda 2.4.2p1.
IIRC, it is a standard non-modified install, except for the fact that I
patched it slightly to skip IP address checking (this was done because
having a multi-homed server just boggles AMANDA completely on a 3.1 box)

This server needs to be rebuilt and needs to be moved on up to BSDI
4.1. Nonetheless, I need to move AMANDA to another server while this
one is rebuilt.

That being said, the server that AMANDA is moving *to* is already
moved on upto 4.1.

My problem is this:
With my compiled-for-4.1 binaries (and even if I just rsh/pax my
entire amanda directory over to this new server), I get this:

su-2.02$ amcheck -c alink

Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
amcheck-clients: could not get krbtgt for [EMAIL PROTECTED] from
/usr/local/amanda/etc/clitab: Can't send request (send_to_kdc)

(brought to you by Amanda 2.4.1p1)

First thought of mine: check permissions. They're fine:
-r-------- 1 amanda operator 30 Jan 10 21:14 /usr/local/amanda/etc/clitab

In addition, the permissions for the entire directory structure are
believed to be correct as well.

I run ipfw on all of my 4.1 boxes - I am not tripping firewall rules
anywhere.

I attempted a ktrace on amcheck, although it did not produce anything
that would give me a clue about the problem.

Keep in mind, this works perfectly on 3.1 (the old AMANDA server)

Although there is a lack of krb4 documentation (that I looked for,
anyway), I've found the following about the send_to_kdc error:

1. It's usually caused by lack of krb entries in /etc/services. Mine
are all there.
2. It could also be caused by entering an invalid principal. This
doesn't make any sense to me, though.

Does anyone have suggestions? I am completely baffled, so I turned to
the list. I appreciate your assistance in advance.
