Are you still getting the "Permission denied" error or something else?
>my client's inetd.conf: (FreeBSD4.0)
>------------------------------------
>amanda dgram udp wait amanda /usr/local/libexec/amandad amandad
>...
>my client's /etc/group:

>operator:*:5:root,amanda
>amanda:*:1000:amanda
If you're still getting the "can not execute /usr/local/libexec/runtar:
Permission denied" error, what do you get when you run these commands
on "dirac":
ls -ld /.
ls -ld /usr/.
ls -ld /usr/local/.
ls -ld /usr/local/libexec/.
ls -ld /usr/local/libexec/runtar
Is /usr/local/libexec NFS mounted from somewhere else onto "dirac"?
If so, you will need to change the server NFS export options to allow root
(and setuid) to run on the client. Exactly how that is done depends on
the server OS.
