dumps (barely) too big

I'm using amanda-2.4.2, and I've got one filesystem that's (after
compression) 500MB too big for my tape.  :(

I'd rather not use gtar, due to previous bad experiences with it.
Does 2.5 out of CVS support splitting dumps across multiple tape
volumes?
