Look in amanda.conf for "indexdir". In there are directories for
each machine and then another directory level for each file system.
Within those are gzip'd files with a datestamp name. Do you see entries
for the particular client and disk and date you were hunting for?
Do you start your backups before midnight? The datestamp used is the date
at the **start** of the amdump run, not when the actual backup happened.
Are you using GNU tar? Is it at least 1.13.17 (or 1.13.19), or 1.12
plus the Amanda patches?
What's in /tmp/amanda/amindexd*debug on the server?
