I have a have a small set of partitions to back up (~17Gb total) and I'm
backing to a 35Gb tape. I would like to perform a full backup every
Friday night of all the partitions because some of these Friday tapes are
kept as long-term backups (kept for a year or so). I also would like to
do incrementals on Monday and Wednesday nights (I could do full backups
since I have the tape but I don't want to use the system resources as
much on those nights). Amanda's way of attempting to balance the backup
load throughout the dumpcycle messing up my schedule. I have a dumpcycle
of 1 week and 3 runs per cycle, but the balancing is causing promotions
of some disks to level 0 dumps on Monday and Wednesday. I could just use
"amadmin WeeklySet force machine-name" before the Friday dump but that
would still not stop the mid-week promotions. Any ideas on how to
accomplish this promotion prevention?
