I am in the process of moving several Linux machines behind a
new firewall. The first machine I moved was the amanda server
and it is currently the only one on the new protected interface.
Last night was the first backup, which went surprisingly well with
one add exception: all the other servers were backed up
successfully but amanda was unable to backup the amanda
server itself! It gave a "FAILED [could not connect to" message
for each filesystem on the amanda server.
On the firewall, I had opened the following ports:
10080 UDP
10082 TCP
10083 TCP
850 thru 854 TCP/UDP
I also recompiled amanda on the amanda server with:
--with-portrange=850,854 --with-udpportrange=850,854
When I ran amcheck last night, all the hosts, including the
amanda server checked out fine. There were no errors found. I
had changed nothing in the config files which have been working
fine for weeks.
Is there some other port I need to open up? Is my
portrange/udpportrange not large enough? Something else
perhaps?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
