You'll have to do something with them. One possibility (probably the
simplest) would be to comment them out and set "tapedev" to point directly
at the device. Another would be to set "tapedev" but set "tpchanger"
to "chg-manual" and set that up. If you run from cron, see the comments
in the script for how to do that.

There are two questions here. First, as far as the Amanda format is
concerned, there will be no difference. However, you'll have to make
sure that a tape written on an 8000 (regardless of what writes it)
can be taken back to a 7000. If you, for instance, end up writing in
super-duper ultimate 8000-only density (or whatever it is that makes
8000's "better than" 7000's), it's not going to work back on the 7000.
You'll have to make sure the 8000 writes in a backward compatible way.
