It's part of the STCTL package that works with AMANDA and the hardware
to.. (hehe i'm sure you know the rest)

Err, yup! Thanks for catching that.

Ok, well that's cool then.

Doh.

amcheck-server: could not get changer info: could not read result from
"/usr/local/libexec/stc-changer"

Since I get that, but stc-changer works when invoked manually, I was
thinking that amcheck-server was reading the slot number as the exit code.
I see now from your previous answer that it's not looking at the first
number as the exit code, but now I'm baffled as to why amcheck isn't
nabbing stc-changer's exit code.

To be honest when I invoke stc-changer the command takes 60 seconds to
complete, but when I invoke amcheck -s it instantly gives me this error
message.

It's pretty strange to me. :( Can you point me in the right direction?

Btw, I also get a similar message when using amtape:

amtape: could not load slot <error>: could not read result from
"/usr/local/libexec/stc-changer"

:(

Appreciate your help so far!

Cheers,

Chris
ps. If it's something I missed in your chapter in the O'Reilly book on
Unix Backup and Recovery, you can just point me out to the page #, but I
don't see anything on this circumstance in there... :(
