Figured it out. I had to use the 'nispopulate -F services' command after
I put the amanda[tab]10080/udp line in the file (which was in
/etc/nis+/files, not /etc/). Turns out that even the server running it
must have it 'populated' although it's sitting on the same box as the
config file. (at least that's the conculsion I came to)
Just thought I'd share in case anyone else ever has this problem. :)
