OK, on solaris you don't have the sg device as on linux. First question
for me is, do you have chg-scsi running on your system ??.
If yes you can try to set scsitapedev to /dev/rmt/1 and check what
the debug files (/tmp/amanda/*) tells you about this device.
If you get something like this:
