Hello, I attempted to access the FAQ-O-MATIC from amanda.org, but I get a Forbidden, saying I don't have access to cgi-bin/fom. Therefore, I'm going to post my question (which undoubtably has a very obvious answer) to the list and hope for the best. I'm setting up amanda for the first time on a Redhat 7.1 box. I did my backup, but it failed on most of the / directories such as /etc, etc. I wanted to try to do a restore of what it did backup, but when I run amrecover as root, it tells me that the connection is refused by localhost. I have the index server and tape server running under xinetd, and my hosts.allow will allow me to connect, so I'm really at a loss as to why I can't run amrecover. I'm thinking that I don't have the .amandahosts in the correct location, but I can't seem to find anywhere that says where it should go. Help!
