Well, the tape drive is a Tandberg SDLT220. However, for the purposes of testing, I've been dumping to the filesystem or /dev/null. I've managed to get it to successfully dump /dev/sda1 to the filesystem twice, in about 8 or 9 attempts. It seems to be random in some fashion in the amount it will actually successfully dump to the system. > Hardware or software RAID? > > You may consider switching to tar for your backups.
