hello ross,

remember, on the amanda host (cypress) you have to allow for root to access
the box from you're recovering from.

cypress should have something like:

contents of /home/amanda/.amandahosts :

cypress root

you have to allow access to the root user for amrecover to work properly.

hope this helps,

-edwin

Subject: running Amrecover

Version 2.4.1 on Solaris 2.6

I am trying to run Amrecover to recover a mailbox. When I run as Amanda, I
am
told that the binary must run as root, when I run as root, I get "access as
Amanda not allowed from root@<Tapeserver name>"

The exact command I use as root is "/opt/amanda/sbin/amrecover -C HISC -s
cypress -t cypress -d /dev/rmt/1cbn"

What am I missing?
