Hi Ross:
     I think that the problem here is with the .amamdahosts file again. This
file lives in the amanda users's home directory and must contain a line with the
host name and the user which is authorized to access from that host.
     If you are restoring files from the same amanda backup server, the file
.amadahosts in the server must change and have amanda as the user for backing up
and root as the user for restoring. If you are restoring from client, other than
the backup amanda server, then you must have a line in the server's .amandahosts
having the client name, following by root as the authorized user. If you do not
have this line, you won't be able to restore from that client.
