As soon as you do, amanda will want a new tape on the next run (since you'll have < tapecycle tapes in your rotation), which you'll of course need to amlabel. So you may want to wait to do this until the tape comes around again in the rotation, if you want to keep things in order.
OTOH, depending on circumstances, you may want to do it immediately, so amanda will know that whatever was on that tape is gone, and can schedule backups accordinglyl. -- Joshua Baker-LePain Department of Biomedical Engineering Duke University
