I'm getting the following error:
***A TAPE ERROR OCCURRED: [[writing filemark: Input/output error]].
Some dumps may have been left in the holding disk.
Run amflush to flush them to tape.
The next tape Amanda expects to use is: DailySet101.

This happens with all my tapes. It's a brand new Seagate STT8000N (IDE)
tape drive, and I'm able to use it fine with mt and tar. I'm running
Amanda version 2.4.2p2, on a Redhat 7.1 system (kernel upgraded to
2.4.16). I was able to successfully amlabel my tapes, and amcheck
appears to be happy. But amdump and amflush both generate the preceding
error. I tried mt rewind beforehand, just to be sure I was at the
beginning of the tape, but that didn't help. When I start amdump, I get
some disk activity when the holding disk is written to, and then the
tape runs for a while, and then it just hangs for a hour or so, until
something times out and fails.
I'd appreciate any suggestions.
