--with-portrange is an old name (synonym now) for --with-tcpportrange.
It was added long before --with-udpportrange, and I got tired of the
syntactic difference (and not remembering whether "portrange" was TCP
or UDP :-).

BTW, did you read docs/PORT.USAGE?  The key statement is kind of subtle:

  ... Just pick user UDP and TCP port ranges, build Amanda with them
  (--with-udpportrange and --with-tcpportrange) and let them through
  the firewall.

It's that "and let them through the firewall" part that might need to be
in big red letters (however you do that in plain ASCII :-).  Implicit is
"let them through **unaltered**", and maybe that should be stated.

This document was a first cut at explaining what was going on to folks
who have to work across firewalls, et al.  Comments and suggestions
would be welcomed.
