I have no idea.  There isn't enough information here to make even a
wild guess.

What does "the first line fails" mean?  Are you getting some kind of
error message?  What does it say?

What version of Amanda?

Actually, I can make one wild guess.  Unless you changed the dumptypes,
"always-full" uses "dump", and "dump" (in general) cannot do backups
of subdirectories of file systems.  It is meant for doing the whole
partition.  If you want to do subdirectories you should use GNU tar.
