I am using mtx on Solaris and chg-zd-mtx. Your problem looks
kinof familiar.

me modify chg-zd-mtx.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/amanda-users/message/31347 has the
chg-zd-mtx that I'm using, maybe it will help you.
