Out of curiousity, what are the contents of those files, once you gunzip 
them?

Is this from a package, or did you compile amanda yourself?  What does 
your ipchains/tables setup look like?

This was discussed a while back -- check the archives.  I believe the 
consensus was that it wasn't all that easy.
