I have compiled and installed amanda twice. In each case, I created a
new user "amanda" that belonged to group "disk" or group "sys" (RedHat
6.1). In both cases I have problems with permissions. With "disk", I
have problems reading/writing some directories. I altered permissions
on some but I'm still having problems and I really don't want to modify
a large amount of directories. With "sys", I don't have access to the
tape and I'm also worried that I may not be able to read (backup) some
directories.

The system I intend to backup is a server that has an internal tape
drive. It will only backup itself, no outside clients (at least for the
time being). Is there any problem to using user/group = root/root?
That should give me access to all directories and the tape. Is there
any problems to doing this?

Thanks,
Mike
