I consider to buy a OnStream ADR SC30e SCSI drive to backup a linux server (RH 7.0, kernel 2.4.9) with amanda 2.4.2p2.
I learned so far that the standard linux st driver doesn't work with this drive. Instead there is a seperate osst driver that implements the command set for this drive: http://linux1.onstream.nl/test/ Now I'm interested if anybody hat got an OnStream ADR drive to work flawlessly with amanda. Especially i would be interested if Recovering works without problems. I read in a former posting that the ADR drives have some timeout related problems because amanda writes the label and then it takes some time until taper begins with writing on the tape. Any experience (good or bad) with this drive would be helpful for me. Thanks, Markus Mahlstedt
