Humm, access not allowed...  You do have a user amanda, and amanda 
is a member of group disk? (or however you configured amanda when 
you built it).

Those are two more reasons, and BTW using localhost will come back 
to haunt you, use the FQDN of the host please,  with yet a third 
being there isn't an amanda file in /etc/xinetd.d to tell xinetd 
how to run the daemons.

This is pretty well described in the docs.  Theres a whole directory 
full of them, except for the xinetd.d stuff.  Yell again if you 
need a sample, or scan back up the log less than a week when I last 
posted mine.
