99.44% of the problem is probably the DI-30.  I've recently stumbled 
across (late kernel code maybe, but can't recall for sure) some 
DI-30 specific optional stuff added because this drive seems to be 
responsible for at least 1% of the traffic on this list.  I've not 
dealt with it myself, but many of the messages seem to have been 
very similar in that once it refuses a tape, it will never again 
accept that tape.  That obviously gets expensive and eventually it 
seems cheaper to run up the white flag and get something else.

But, just on the odd chance that I saw that reference in amanda, 
give 2.4.3 a try.  If configured exactly like your present 2.4.2 
install, it should be a transparent changeover.

If it does fix it, then be sure to tell us here on the list.
