service amanda
{
socket_type = dgram
protocol = udp
wait = yes
user = operator
server = /usr/local/libexec/amanda/amandad
}
should work. Be sure to allow amanda in /etc/hosts.allow for the server host,
xinetd will usually check that file and /etc/hosts.deny.
Remember to send xinetd a "reload" signal, SIGUSR2 on older versions,
SIGHUP on recent versions such as xinetd 2.3.12.
I am still using Amanda from inetd, convenience.
